The sober living home is a residence dedicated to maintaining the healing program and therapeutic community of recovery. 1st Step Behavioral Health’s sober living in Florida provides continued support and a safe, comfortable environment for individuals who are recovering from addiction and those with a dual diagnosis. Sober living programs are often used in conjunction with outpatient treatment or a partial hospitalization program for those who no longer need around the clock treatment. While supervision and continued support is provided, it is less structured than in Residential Treatment. Since accountability and responsibility are the hallmarks of sober living, our goal is to ensure a supportive community for individuals in recovery who are beginning to re-structure their independent lives.

1st Step’s Sober Living in Florida

Our clean sober living home at 1st Step promotes a home-like atmosphere with continued support from the recovery community and clinical staff. Residence is an apartment style housing with semi private rooms where clients share responsibilities and fellowship. While there is the freedom to begin to structure responsibilities independently, there are also rules in place at sober living. 1st Step does this to create a safe and mutually respectful environment.

Residents are required to maintain their recovery program, to meet curfew, and to uphold other house rules. Support is still available through individual and group therapies, and we offer career assistance by providing resume writing help and support while looking for employment. The support our clients receive at 1st Step Behavioral Health does not end at the time of discharge. We support the attendance of Day/Night treatment and active participation in the community that surrounds the treatment center.

For those individuals needing to return home after completing our intensive residential phase, we will also assist them with finding quality aftercare.

The Sober Living Home Lifestyle

As a resident in a sober living home, one can strengthen their program of recovery and improve their chances of maintaining long term sobriety. No single treatment plan will be appropriate for everyone, and at 1st Step, we deliver comprehensive program that treats each substance abuse disorder, dual diagnosis, and co-occurring mental health issue.

Counselors, peers and family will also provide a valuable support network, allowing their loved ones to continue the work necessary for sustained recovery while in our sober living home. Counselors facilitate a variety of services for individuals and families or loved ones who are healing through the process of recovering from addiction. With mutual-support groups like the sober living fellowship, therapy groups, and other 12-step programs, peers become a vital layer of support for each other.
